Whisky will never be the same
~Octomore Masterclass 08.3~
Overview: The most heavily peated Whisky in the world. 309.1ppm... despite that, this Whisky isn't just in your face peat. There are layers upon layers to this monster. After a dram of this, Whisky will never be the same.
Personal Tasting Notes:
Nose: A thunderstorm of peat. The first thing you will smell is a Scottish peat moss on a rainy day. A really earthy, muddy peat. But beneath the peat are beautiful notes of exotic fruits and caramel. A great balance between the stellar levels of peat and a rich fruitiness.
Taste: This is madness. The first sip blows you away with the strength of the peat. But the fruit notes from the nose return with a second sip. There is notes of very dark chocolate and some spice from the oak. The finish is long and note of peat and caramel will stick to your palate, wanting to stay with you forever.
There is nothing like this and there will probably never be anything like it again. This Whisky easily holds the top spot on my favourite Whisky list. A match made in hell.
