Douglas Laing Exclusive Tasting

// Disclaimer: All Whiskies have been sent to me by Douglas Laing. All Opinions stated are still my own. //

As an early christmas present I had the opportunity to sample some amazing Whiskey by Douglas Laing. When I saw the line up I couldn’t believe my eyes. The evening started of with:

1. The Epicurean Rivesaltes Cask – 48%, 1 of 546 Bottles.
A dram that explodes with stewed fruits, sweetness and Chocolate.

2. Next up: Old Particular Spiritualist Series ‘Harmony’ Cameronbridge 28 Year Old– 52.6%.
A light and delicate Single Grain Whisky with notes of grapes, ginger, tobacco and some citrus

3. The Highlight of the tasting: Private Stock Bunnahabhain 30 Year Old from one refill Hogshead – 43.6%, 1 of 212 Bottles.
A dram for the gods! Elegant and fresh. Notes of tea, Tart Tattin, apple candy and other fruits make for one hell of a dram. Not your typical Bunnahabhain but very very tasty.

4. Slowly dipping our toes into the peaty direction with:  Rock Island Sherry Cask Aged
A salty, maritime yet fruity blend of Malts form Arran, Jura, Islay and Orkney.

5. Ending with a bang: Big Peat 12 Year Old.
This dram has everything Islay has to offer. Peat, smoke, salt and even some medicinal notes. Yet there is fruity notes and a maltiness.

A big thank you to Stuart and Douglas Laing of this amazing evening and hopefully 2021 will allow a tasting like this to happen in person.
