PUNI AURA
I've said many times how much I love PUNI. A distillery I've followed from their first new make the PUNI WHITE to today, where they are able to release their first cask strength Whisky.
The PUNI AURA is first aged in ex-Bourbon Casks for two and a half years and is then aced for four years un ex-Islay Whisky Casks. It is bottled at cask strength of 56.2% abv.
Personal Tasting Notes:
Nose: The first thing that hits you is a salty, briny peat smoke from the Islay cask. If I didn't know better, I'd have said I was nosing an Islay Whisky and not Italian Whisky. The next thing to hit the nose is a fruity honey note and caramel.
Taste: The taste continues from where the nose left of. Fruits, honey and caramel all surrounded by briny peat. A truly magnificent dram.
