A very special Port Charlotte

Port Charlotte 16

Overview: This is the special bottling from Bruichladdich for their virtual Feis Ile this year.
Made from three different maturation profiles that were married into one to create a stunning whisky.
Parcel One: Refill hogsheads, recasked into first fill bourbon barrels in 2012
Parcel Two: First fill bourbon barrels, recasked into ex-Sauternes casks in 2013
Parcel Three: A complex assemblage of ex-sherry, ex-bourbon and virgin oak casks

Personal Tasting Notes:

Nose: The Nose to me is a combination of honey, sea salt and brine and earthy peat smoke. It feels like sitting on the beach with a campfire, eating a piece of bread with honey

Taste: The Taste, like the nose is a combination of sweet honey, the sea and peat. But there is also some oak spice showing the 16 years it has spent in cask on Islay. With some water the floral Bruichladdich DNA shows up.

It's an amazing dram and I feel very lucky to have gotten my hands on it.
